| There was a little ticking sound but it was barely noticable. Then it lurched like I hit a curb or something and promptly died. Pulled off the highway and saw some coolant and oil under the car. Was hoping it was just a head gasket. Got towed, pulled the cover off and a connecting rod nut fell out of the hole in the bottom of the oil pan. **** Worst part? I was driving home from buying it. I got all of 18.34 miles. I know because I happened to look down at the trip odo as I was pulling out of the bank parking lot and reset it for no particular reason. So about half an hour later, just as my dead car was rolling to a stop on the side of the highway, I let my head fall onto the steering wheel and that was the first thing I saw. 18 some miles on the meter. Anyway, since I needed a new motor, I figured I might as well do a few simple, cheap upgrades while it was accessable. A year, complete rebuild and $15,000 dollars later I'm still about 2 months away from driving it again. Anyway, I still have the 18.34 miles on trip odo and I put the connecting rod nut on my key chain. Can see where it ripped the last few threads off the end.
